More Than a Chair: A Lifeline

Every year, as we launch our annual Be Fierce matching campaign, we find ourselves reflecting on why we started this foundation and why we continue.

For us, it always comes back to Aubrey.

Our beautiful daughter taught us about strength, courage, resilience, and what it means to live fiercely. Although we wish we could have had more time with her, her life continues to make an impact through the lives of the children and families we are privileged to help.

And today, those families need us.

Families Shouldn't Have to Choose

Families raising medically fragile children often face expenses that most of us could never imagine—and many of the things their children desperately need aren't covered by insurance.

Imagine being told that your child needs a specialized chair that costs $5,000.

A chair.

But it isn't just a chair.

It is the equipment that helps your child sit safely and comfortably. It can allow them to participate at the dinner table, spend time with their family, get out into the community, or simply experience more of the world around them.

It's a lifeline.

Or imagine discovering a therapy that you can see is helping your child—something that could improve their comfort, development, communication, mobility, or quality of life—but knowing you can't afford it.

Because there are groceries to buy.

Bills to pay.

Other children to care for.

This Is Why Be Fierce Exists

Be Fierce helps take some of that burden away.

Through the generosity of our supporters, we are able to help families secure therapies, wheelchairs, specialized seating, durable medical equipment, and other resources that can make a profound difference in the daily lives of medically fragile children.

Sometimes, what we provide is equipment.

Sometimes, it's therapy.

But always, it's relief.

It's a parent being able to say, Yes, my child can have this.

It's one less impossible decision.

It's one less financial burden for a family already carrying so much.

And it's one more way that Aubrey's legacy continues to make a difference.
